We love weird jazz here at High Violet and Monocled Man’s ‘Tromelin’ might just be as weird and as fascinating as it gets. Inspired by a remote sandbank island in the Indian Ocean, it’s just as much a cultureshock as visiting that island probably is. Twisted brass and off-kilter percussion make it a revelation in nu-jazz. Monocled Man’s new album is out 25th Sept and if it’s as intriguing as this, it should make for a very cool listen.
