How Port Cities manage to produce a sound that is country and folk in nature yet not rooted in the cliche of those genre’s is quite amazing. New single ‘Back To The Bottom’ is fresh, clear and crisp with lots of yearning and great pop sensibilities and sounds like a country or folk track yet isn’t bogged down by the usual swathe of instruments and orthodox sounds that would push it over the edge into the obscurity of all of the other country and folk influenced bands out there.
