Seafoam Green ‘Down The River’

Seafoam Green’s Dave O’Grady looks a bit like Will Oldham or Sam Beam with his long beard and moustache and his music is likewise a hip indie take on country / folk. In places, album ‘Topanga Mansion’ echoes the rock-jam sounds of Creedence Clearwater Revival and Neil Young’s heavier moments but in others there is more of a Nick Drake or Mark Kozelek intricate finger-picked style with strings, pedal steel and pretty lyrics. With back up from co-writer / performer / producer Rich Robinson of The Black Crowes, O’Grady has had his stuff vetted and filtered to perfection.
