Intoxicating trippy new video from Phobophobes. The singer squirms and trips in an armchair inbetween epileptic flashes of red whilst the keyboardist rocks back and forth, no shirt, nipples covered with gaffa tape, whilst the guitarist mimes his guitar playing in mocking fashion. “And that’s good is it, Jez?” springs to mind in a kind of Mark from Peep show thought but it is good, the track is infectiously stomping with punky chants and dark organs and loads of attitude and sneer. Sneering at pop-culture, sneering at intellectualism, sneering at sex, perhaps sneering at themselves ironically too? Nothing wrong with a satirical outlook though and one which I’m sure a lot of people in London can relate to.
