Jersey band Astral Cloud Ashes a.k.a Antony Walker has recently dropped this slice of top indie emo rock. With a sentimental yearning wrapped around the title ‘we were too close to the noise floor’ and an obscure abstract structure, this really gets under your skin after a few listens like the best At The Drive In tracks. There’s an organic sound to the band, like this was recorded in a practice room. Very clear guitars and drums. Its stops and starts satisfy with its different grungy segments returning again and again and there’s some amazing lyrics ‘I’m worried about my bitcoin, that’s why I’m cryptoparanoid’… and ‘I’ve got the C.I.A all on my mind’. Gold. Check out the worried Wolf / Fox artwork below too, presumably fretting in space about his non-physical currency obsessions.
