Lola Colt “Vacant Heart” Video

This track will make your ears ring with a sort of feral wildness with it’s shrill unrelenting piercing female vocals and slightly too slow dirgy feel and jaggy pointy guitar jabs and waves. A cool sounding retro organ emerges with other frequencies swathing around at other points but unfortunately it all seems to loose cohesion for the worst and anything to grip onto to not have your held underwater by the nagging vocal is lost. There’s an intensity about the track in a similar way to Cocteau Twins or Warpaint but without the moments of magic to really touch a listener. Produced by Jim Sclavunos (of Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds, Grinderman) it was bound to be wild and dark but unlike the groups he works with, this track doesn’t have either enough of a sustenance underneath the edgy production to command regular listening rather sadly.
